Kasi, lingid sa kaalaman ng karamihan sa inyo, na-ospital ako for nine days.
Kakalabas ko lang last Monday.
Sa Manila Adventist Hospital sa may Taft ako na-confine. Wag niyo nang tanungin kung bakit.
Anyway, I love Manila Adventist kasi maganda service nila, lahat sila dun mabait, plus, super-healthy ang food na sine-serve nila sa patients nila.
Vegetarian ang meals at na-perfect na nila ang pagluto ng soy meat and tofu meat.
Pero after nine days of healthy eating, namalayan ko na lang na amoy-tokwa na pala ako.
So the day after kong maka-checkout, sinundo ako ni Baker Clang at ni Chef Ed for a roadtrip.

For a foodie roadtrip!
Sa may Shell gas station sa Magallanes pa lang, bumili na kami agad ng appetizer.

Dahil summer na, they decided to take me to the nearby probinsya of Bacoor, Cavite.

Apparently, may isang town yata dun na sikat for their halo-halo and empanada.
I don't know kung town yun or isang street yata.
Basta ang name nung place Digman.

Tanghaling tapat na nung dumating kami kaya walang tao sa maliit na resto.



Mura lang ang halo-halo. I think 30p lang. Pero masarap!
Lalo na yung leche flan (I know, I know, it's bad for me, pero last pig-out ko na ito, I hope)

Sikat din daw yung empanada nila kaso wala pa silang naluluto.
Paglabas namin ng resto, may ulam akong nakita. Mas masarap sa empanada.

Mmmmalaman.
After having dessert first, we then decided to go back to Manila, and try out something even more famous.
We set out to Roxas Boulevard, in front of the US Embassy.

Have you heard of Emerald Garden?
I'm sure some of you have.

Actually, yung una naming napasukan na Emerald Garden mali pala. Ang hinahanap kasi namin eh yung dimsum place nila, which was right next to the first one we entered.
Emerald Gardens is sikat for their gigantic and delicious siopao, also known as taipao.

Ito yung siopao na natsismis na dahilan kung bakit umalis sa Manila hostage crisis si Alfredo Lim, para lang bumili nito.
Ewan ko kung totoo yun, pero according to shootfirsteatlater.blogspot.com, where I stole some of these pics, "You almost have to bow in the presence of this siopao. It weighs 386 grams or 13.6 oz. Imagine eating 4 Quarter Pounders minus a bun. It's not easy getting hold of this baby. You have to call and reserve the minute they open. I think they make a limited quantity and it's always out of stock by the time I call."

She adds, "There is barely any dough. This is an all meat siopao. And what glorious meat. There's the base of bola bola (ground pork) topped with chinese sausage, roast pork and chicken. To break the meat love they added some salted egg."


Everytime binabasa ko yung description niya nung siopao, kasama ang pictures, nag-o-orgasm ako.

And guess what?

Pagdating namin, we were informed by the waiter na ubos na nga. Pakshet very much.

Gusto kong mag-warla nung marinig ko yun.
Lumapit sa amin yung head waitress nila na si Ate Rosie.

She suggested we instead try their newly cooked "Emerald Pie."
Mas bagay daw sa aming tatlo yun.
So go na.
We also ordered:

Chicken Noodles, 80P, keri naman.

Beef Hofan (flat noodles) mga 80+ din yata ito, and masarap siya, in fernez.

Spareribs na lasang... spareribs.

And steamed dumplings.

After ten minutes, dumating na yung Emerald Pie.

Mas malaki pa siya sa mukha ko!

It was filled with meat, veggies, lotsa potatoes and creamy creamy hot mayo.
Isang subo pa lang, busog na ako. Puno na agad ng sustansya ang isang kutsara pa lang.
Naka isang slice lang ako. Ganun siya kabigat sa tiyan.
Masarap siya. Promise.
Yung table malapit sa amin, um-order din ng isang Emerald Pie.

Pang-pamilya pala ang putang pie to.
Next month's pig-out, babalik ako sa Emerald Garden para bumili uli ng isang pie.
Kakainin ko mag-isa habang nanunuod ng sine. Hindi ako magpapatalo sa pie na ito.
